Interlaken is a little piece of paradise between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the Bernese Highlands Region of central Switzerland. Interlaken is one of Switzerland’s popular tourist destinations for many reasons. The impressive Alpine scenery, famous skiing, endless hiking, historic paddle steamers & ships on both Lake Thun and Lake Brienz all make the area appealing. Additional winter sports in the area that you can find locals and tourists doing is skating, tobogganing and cross-country skiing. The area is a paradise for paragliders, hikers and cyclists offering an array of flora and fauna in the summer. The several cable cars, chair lifts, ski lifts, and mountain railways in the area give access to hundreds of pristine kilometers. The highest railway station in the world and the Piz Glora revolving restaurant are easily accessible from Interlaken.
The look out from Harder Kulm gives you breath-taking panoramic views of the Jungfrau region and the town of Interlaken below. You have a choice of taking the Harderbahn (funicular railway) or hike up to the top of Harder Kulm. The funicular takes about 8 minutes to the top, with about a 5 minute walk to the restaurant at the top. The hike on average is about 1 hour.
